In short

Polish comics are called komiks; in the Polish People's Republic they were known as 'historyjki obrazkowe' or 'kolorowe zeszyty'.

The first Polish comic cycle appeared in Lwów in 1919, comics were effectively forbidden from 1947 to 1957, and Tytus, Romek i A'Tomek began as the ban ended and ran until 2009.
